Founder and President Biography

Claretha H. Banks, Ph.D. is Founder and President of Best Practice Services (BPS), an Organizational Project Management consulting and training company with emphasis on manufacturing environments and federal agencies. The primary purpose of BPS is to help organizations implement Organizational Project Management solutions by providing resources and services to help develop people, improve processes, better utilize equipment/technology and expand communication.

Claretha used these skills over the past 12 years in various management and frontline supervisory positions for multinational corporations. Her current clients include University of Virginia Workforce Development Academy, ECC, Inc, Member One Credit Union, Cox Communications, Integrated Textile Solutions, Glencoe/McGraw Hill and Robertson Marketing Group. She is also an Independent Sales Representative for Education Direct and ITC Learning Corporation. ITC Learning specializes in industrial equipment and safety training via CD Rom, Internet and VHS. She also has reseller partnerships with Comprehensive Computer Solutions offering QualTrax and with Richard Chang and Associates to offer a wide variety of pre-packaged training materials.

Claretha serves as an adjunct faculty member for Bluefield College’s Organizational Management and Development Adult Education program in which she teaches organizational project courses. She also teaches Securing Human Resources and Management courses for Baker College Online and Career Development courses for NOVA Southeastern University's Huizenga School.

Claretha holds a Ph.D. in Career and Technical Education specializing in Training and Development/Instructional Technology from Virginia Tech, a Master of Textiles in Textile Management and Technology from NC State University, and a BA in Chemistry from Clemson University.

Claretha is also president-elect of the Valleys of Virginia Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development; a graduate of Leadership Roanoke Valley, and a Manufacturing Skill Standards Council associate.
